Round-up and to-do list

I’m a bit late with this, this week, but I have been busy, just not necessarily busy doing what I was supposed to be doing …

I did some work on Saturday last week, at the front end of the week not the tail end. Here is how I did for the rest of the week to last Friday:

  • write to family member for a foreword for the history book

Yes! I wrote him a letter telling him he could email me a reply or write back, it was up to him, and that I could send him either a physical copy of the book or an electronic copy. He’s replied (via email), and the publisher is going to send him the first proofs so he can also see the pictures in place.

  • write acknowledgements page for history book

Yes! I did this on Monday and wrote 63 words. 😎

  • write cover blurb for history book
  • write author bio for history book

Yes! I did both of these on Tuesday, 150 words for the cover blurb and 50 words for the bio, as requested, bang on. 😎

  • write a blog post every day

Yes! They may not have been for the same blog, but I did indeed write at least one blog post each day.

  • read through Catch the Rainbow and send next instalment to beta readers
  • write 1 guest blog post for friend

No … I didn’t manage either of these two, although I did make a start on the guest post … (I wrote the heading …)

  • start new editing job for favourite client

Yes! I started a new job and by Friday the hard copy edit was complete.

  • complete 1 proofreading job for favourite client

No … and I had a new job come through from them too.

  • finish reading 1 book for 52 books in 52 weeks
  • write up 1 post for 52 books in 52 weeks
  • start new book for 52 books in 52 weeks

Yes! I did all of these.

  • scan the jobs board on a daily basis

Yes, I checked every day.

  • pitch for 3 jobs

No … I only fancied one job last week, and that’s the only one I pitched for.

  • continue with Camp NaNoWriMo

No – I dropped out of Camp NaNoWriMo. I didn’t really do any planning for it and I’ve decided to aim at the regular November NaNoWriMo again this year.

  • type up ‘D’ for Alphabet Adventurers

Yes! I typed up the blog for this, and I recorded my part of the voice-over for the vlog. But these were two of the jobs I did the previous weekend.

  • write up ‘E’ for Alphabet Adventurers

No … we didn’t go, so I didn’t have anything to write.

  • daily competitions
  • daily online surveys
  • daily videos
  • check bank every day
  • complete 2 daily polls every day

Yes! All of these were done within their designated hour.

  • diary work
  • weekly invoices/finances

Yes! Both of these were done by Friday.

  • weekly backup of the pc

No … I ran out of time.

Other jobs completed on the Saturday are listed in this blog post here.  On Monday afternoon, I also went out to run some errands and I did some band admin for the poet. Over the course of the week I added 1,185 words to two other books. And on Tuesday, I started a new daily writing exercise. In four 20-minute writing sessions, I wrote 2,434 words. On Thursday I added gig list admin to the list of chores.

The weekend was a very busy one. We drove down to Birmingham on Saturday to see my parents, but had to be back by 6pm to get the poet to a gig in time. Then on Sunday, he was off again at 3pm, but we picked up one of his kids first, who came with us.

Here, then, is the to-do list I started out with on Monday:

  • daily writing exercise
  • write a blog post every day
  • read through Catch the Rainbow and send next instalment to beta readers
  • sort out all the bits for The Beast Within (a Marcie Craig mystery)
  • write 1 guest blog post for friend
  • check layout on 1 job for favourite client
  • complete 1 editing job for favourite client
  • complete 1 proofreading job for favourite client
  • finish reading 1 book for 52 books in 52 weeks
  • write up 1 post for 52 books in 52 weeks
  • start new book for 52 books in 52 weeks
  • scan the jobs board on a daily basis
  • pitch for 3 jobs
  • daily competitions
  • daily online surveys
  • daily videos
  • check bank every day
  • complete 2 daily polls every day
  • Monkey Dust admin
  • gig list admin
  • diary work
  • weekly backup of the pc
  • weekly invoices/finances
  • go out on ‘E’ adventure
  • write-up ‘E’ adventure

We also have 2 appointments this week. But NO gigs at the weekend.
