The plan always was to work yesterday, and take today off as my first day off.
Then the plan changed because the weather was supposed to be nicest yesterday. We were going to go out for the day.
Then that plan changed as well and we decided to stay in. However, I decided to keep it as my day off and work today instead, negotiating this with the poet, who naturally agreed.
I did nip onto the NaNo website to update my word-count by just 1 word. This is so that I maintain my writing badges. You get an extra badge for updating your word-count 5 days in a row. So I went in and added just 1 word …
Instead of going out, we baked and we cooked. For England. We made, between us:
- 4 sugarfree jellies
- pumpkin soup
- roasted pumpkin seeds
- 2 bloomer loaves
- a crustless quiche
- 9 marmalade muffins
- a pumpkin and banana cake
- an apple crumble
The cake was supposed to have a cream cheese icing on, but it came out very, very runny. We’ll try again another time.
With enough food, therefore, to last us at least a day or two (!), today we both worked. I worked on NaNo and the poet worked on a new Monkey Dust poster in between watching Leeds United beat Wigan Athletic on the telly via the computer.
I worked on characters in my two worlds – in my 1974 world and my “today” world. I’m coming up with two lots of protagonist/antagonist/confidante characters. And I surfed the internet looking for suitable pictures to illustrate these characters.
Then I worked on two of my scenes from the 1974 world. As a result, I now have a prologue and three chapters.
It was very nice working on it in such a relaxed fashion. Let’s hope I can keep up the good work during the coming week.
I’ll need to try and ignore any new editing or proofreading work for a few days as I have two jobs to get back to the client still. But at least I’m working on my stuff as well.
How is your NaNoWriMo going so far this year?
