I’ve finally taken the leap and moved over to the WordPress *new* block editor. I resisted for such a long time because, well, I know where everything is on the classic editor, and every time I looked at the block editor, the first thing I wanted to do required extensive research, and I never seem to have the time to spare.

One of the things that I couldn’t find was word-count. But yesterday I stumbled on a video that showed me exactly where word-count is (it’s in the information circle thing in the top left-hand corner), amongst other things.

Something I couldn’t quite grasp was WordPress inserting an extra paragraph line mid-sentence. I’ve still not worked that out and have to just retype the bit that’s dropped into a new paragraph. But hey, if I don’t use it, I’ll never work it out.

Wednesday wasn’t as productive as the week so far, but I did do some work.

First of all, I emailed the Australian client and let him know my availability. He’s happy for the work to take a little longer to turn around than usual, which is great. I had 25 minutes on social media and watched a 5-minute tutorial on the WordPress query that I had.

I wrote a new blog post. And I added a load of backdrops to my Scrivener for when I’m typing in full-screen mode.

Full-screen mode is great in that the line you’re typing on is always in the middle of the screen and there are no diversions around the typing pane. I’d like to have my project targets always on top, as they show my target word-count and my word-count this session. As far as I can tell, that’s not currently possible in the Windows version I have.

In the afternoon I did Day 10 of 14 Days … and posted to the forum. Then I was on the phone waiting for my bank for almost an hour as their online banking wasn’t working. While I hung on, I faffed on my time-sucking game.

I did manage a bit of a writing sprint on The Fool as well, but as some of my Scrivener time was locating, choosing, saving and selecting backdrops, I only managed 262 words.

And that was it. That was my sum total of work at my desk yesterday. Very poor. Today needs to be better.

I have Day 11 of 14 Days … to do, I have Richard Cadbury work to do. I’d also like to add another scene to The Fool.
