I ❤️ Scrivener 3

I mean, look at. What is there not to like? It’s sleek, it’s clean, it’s sharp, it does everything I’m used to doing a lot quicker and more easily. It’s gorgeous!

I’ve had a lot of fun playing with the new Scrivener for Windows.

At last we have caught up with our Mac/iOS chums. At last the two platforms look the same. At last us Windows users are not left to flounder in the wilderness.

There are a few things I haven’t worked out how to do yet, but I know that they’re there. In the meantime, I can still go and do some of them in Calibre.

If I really can’t find out how to do stuff, the Windows support team are ace, and the two platforms are so aligned now that if I can only find documentation or support or tips for Mac/iOS, at least I can probably fudge it.

So long as I get there in the end.

Thanks, guys. All I can say now is …

The rest of technology

All of the rest of technology, though, is sending me bananas.

Everything else seemed to be struggling yesterday. In fact, my Yahoo mail app fell over the night before, but at least I could still look at the web version … but then yesterday, the web version started to wind down too.

Then my computer was on a total go-slow. And then the internet seemed to be driven by steam. I checked my task manager, but the only thing that seemed to be taking up a bit of room was MS Edge.

For an internet browser, I much prefer Opera. But with the pile of pap that is my computer, I have to use the least memory- and storage-hungry products. It’s a bit like when you’ve had a mobile phone for a lot of years and it simply can’t cope with what technology now has to offer.

Yup, my computer, the thing I *need* for my business to be productive and efficient is no better than and old and cranky mobile phone.

Defrag doom

It was lagging so much that I decided to close everything down and start again. But before I did, I thought I’d do a quick disk check and maybe a defrag …

… what a mistake that was. For the next six hours, the defrag slowed my crap computer down to a standstill, nearly.

I couldn’t use my computer properly for the rest of the day. I kept watching it, kept hoping it would only be a few more minutes now. And while I did that, I caught up on all of my date work.

But in the end I gave up, switched everything else off, and just left it defragging to its heart’s content.

I hope it’s working today, because I have a lot more work to catch up on now.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Cripes it is ages since I have seen anything from you Diane, how lovely to discover you again. Thanks for following me again. Hello to Carol Warham too. Defrag, OMG! Not done one for ages.

    1. Nice to see you back! For ages I’ve only seen a handful of posts form the same people, so I went through and unfollowed and refollowed them all again. 🙂

Defrag was dreadful. I’d suggest you set it off and then go to bed, or something similar.

      1. Diane, same here, not many ‘old’ faces showing up and a lot of spam even though I have filters. I shall do the defrag when I have time to be away from here for a while, night is a good idea. Good to see you and I hope to see more of you now we are reconnected. Stay safe and well. xx
