Day 15: 29 November 2022
For this year’s NaNoWriMo, the plan was to write for 22 days in November. This gave me a daily target of 2,273 words, which should have been about 2 chapters per day.
As with many great plans, however, my NaNo came unstuck in the middle when I had to do some work and get it back to the client by a certain date. I was so busy doing that (it really was all-consuming) that I ran out of time rather than steam at the end of each day.
Once the job was done, though, I set to and recalculated. It was still doable, and I reminded myself that if it was a client I was writing for I would do it. So I stepped up, pulled out the stops, and cracked on with it.
My 22 days in November shrank down to just 16, and that gave me a bigger daily word-count to aim at. I was already a little bit ahead, which helped, but it was still a big ask.
Today is the penultimate day in which I could have done with writing around 4,400 words.
I wrote 5,187, which reduced the final day’s target from 4,401 words to 3,614.
The finish line is definitely in sight now and my stats have jumped up again on the NaNoWriMo site. I can do this…
…barring war or pestilence or some other massive disaster. Keep everything crossed!
