Wednesday morning was even slower getting started than Tuesday morning, and I had a lot to do. I really couldn’t afford to fanny around. And yet, that’s what I seem to have done.
We slept in for a start. Not great when the poet was supposed to be elsewhere. Fortunately, he was able to work from home, so no disaster there. But we had both had poor nights.
The dog woke me up at about 1:30am throwing up. He didn’t want to go out because it was raining and he got back in his basket. But I still had to clear up after him. A few hours later, the poet woke up mid-asthma attack, and that lasted for AGES. He was all right, but it was still a bad one. We think the anti-inflammatory medication the dentist told him to take might have brought it on, despite him not taking it after Monday.
The poet woke up again, and then the dog woke up again too. No wonder we all slept in when everyone finally settled.
I spent what was left of the morning writing and posting yesterday’s blog post and chasing Plottr, again. One of the admins replied on FB this time, but he didn’t approve my separate FB post asking for a response. I ran my weekly tech scan and did my weekly backup. Then it was dinner time. I made us both a sandwich, but the poet was mid-Teams call. So I read a few chapters of E IS FOR EVIDENCE.
After dinner, I started to revise ELVIS IS MISSING. I spent the whole afternoon on it, but I manged to get it down from almost 3,400 words to exactly 2,500 words, which was our target. Right after I posted it, I checked my emails, and there was a reply from Plottr. Yay! One of my problems is a known issue, the other one he gave me a workaround. I told him a workaround isn’t really good enough, but it would do for now.
I still had the pirate story to write, but I was all creatived out and it was already gone 5pm. The poet had started a casserole for tea and was putting washing away. I still have until Sunday to write, revise and submit the pirate story, but it needs to be at least 3,000 words. I might work an outline to death then go at it on Scrivener, like I used to with the ghostwriting.
My reading this week
Nothing has changed since my last update on my week’s reading. I’m still currently only reading 2 books:
- JUST EAT IT by Laura Thomas
- E IS FOR EVIDENCE by Sue Grafton
E IS FOR EVIDENCE always was, and probably still is, one of my personal Kinsey Millhone favourites, and I want to savour it rather than rush it.
Plan for today
We break up today for a week and a day, and I still have a lot to do. The plan for today looks like this:
- THE LAST PIRATE OF PENZANCE
- SHAMPOO, SET AND MATCH
- Diane’s gig list admin
- finance ahead of new month
- tomorrow’s blog
- diary for the week after next
Just as I was posting this, the new pdf proof for the job I sent back a couple of weeks ago landed. If I get chance today, I’ll proofread that too.
What’s your plan for today?
Sorry you had such a bad night of it. Hope everyone is better. At least you got some writing in!
Thank you!
