I didn’t write up Tuesday’s blog post until Tuesday morning, thanks to my procrastination on Monday. Once it was written, I posted it and shared it. Then I allowed myself some time on book covers.
I did some Monkey Dust admin. We had to change the password on two of the Monkey Dust accounts due to a data breach somewhere. All the band has access to the calendar, so I had to make sure they all had the new password at the weekend. Some have been taking full advantage, because I noticed a few additions to the gig calendar. So I spent a bit of time tidying it all up.
I hopped onto Reedsy to switch on my out of office between now and 1 April. If I don’t do that and someone sends me a job request, if I reply that I’m unavailable, Reedsy gives me a stiff talking to and takes me to the out of office. This is the first time I’ve beaten them to it!
I opened up Plottr and played around with the storyline for this month’s 12 Stories in 12 Months. I also created a template to help me for future stories, as I keep going back to the same one but then I change the official blurb to my own version. So I just made my own version from the off.
When I was happy with the basic outline, I imported it into Scrivener. Then I set my brain something else to think about while the basic outline percolated a bit. I put some washing in the tumble dryer and hung some washing up. As I’d already fed the birds, I went to see if the dustmen had been so I could bring the bin in and if the bathroom drain was blocked. They had, I did, and it wasn’t, so all good there.
There was a phone call when I got back inside the house. It was the hospital with my pre-op assessment appointment. They’d had a cancellation and could I please go in tomorrow (aka today). It’s at my hospital of choice and at least it will be out of the way, but it does kind of disrupt my carefully planned day a bit. I decided to just crack on and get some writing done so I could go with a clear conscience.
Next job, then, was to thrash out a more detailed outline for the story for 12 Stories in 12 Months. I ended up with an outline of 2,026 words for a 1,200-word story…
Time for another break. I put the washing out of the tumble dryer away and made myself a cuppa. Then it was back to Scrivener to have a go at this first draft.
I managed the full 1,200 words, with just a bit of cutting at the end (I went over by about 250 words), printed it off, and took it to read out loud to the poet while he cooked tea.
I’ll revise it this morning before sending it off, and then I really, really need to work on Fallen Angel.
Well done! I hope the pre-op goes well today.
Thank you!
