… but I still have time to catch up. It just wasn’t yesterday.
I was also behind on the ghostwriting, although I did manage to write two more chapters on Monday night – one before tea and one after. I was still behind, though, so I turned yesterday on its head with the intention of doing the ghostwriting first…
Don’t you just love (or hate?) that word ‘intention’?
The day started a good hour later again, thanks to the dog getting me up four times between 2:30am and 5:45am. Over my late breakfast, I began work by checking social media and catching up on some NetGalley reading.
I’m still only on Book 2 for the month, which doesn’t leave a lot of November left for Books 3 and 4, and the Kate Morton book is a long one. I think I’m coming to the end of Book 2, though, so that will be going onto the review pile soon for NetGalley.
First job at my desk was sharing the latest blog post to Medium, but it keeps showing the same image in the link to here. So I created a favicon (favourite icon) and changed the header, but still the old image is showing in Medium. I cleared the image cache, and that didn’t work either. I’m also not sure I like the header.
So I’ve left it for now, until I have time to look into it further.
Then, once I’d finished faffing, and after I started today’s blog post, I made myself a hot drink, selected a YouTube video of rain (white noise), set my Pomodoros to start, and off I went.
Compared to writing 3,000 words per chapter for the other ghostwriting job, and writing 2,500 words for NaNo, I seemed to reach my target of 2,000 words per chapter for this ghostwriting job much quicker.
I worked solidly for the rest of the day and well into the night, and I ended up writing 19,294 words at an apparent rate of 2,205 words per hour. I believe that’s what’s referred to as ‘pulp speed’. (I have a spreadsheet that works out the words per hour rate.)
I even manged to read through each chapter before starting the next and I corrected the odd typo as I went, although I am sure there will be more. However, I didn’t manage any NaNo.
The job isn’t finished, though. I still have a 3,000-word bonus short story to write today, and then I can turn to the other ghostwriting job and, hopefully, NaNoWriMo.
My next deadline is Friday. I have to do revisions and then write 10,000 words by then. Unfortunately, this one isn’t as easy to write as the other one, but the other one is Book 7 in the same period and genre, so most of my research is knowledge by now.
According to my funky spreadsheet, I’ve written 82,598 words since 1 November. Of those, 29,656 words are for NaNo. By the end of today, I should normally be over the 40,000-word mark for NaNo, so there’s another 10,000 words I have to catch up on, plus tomorrow’s and Friday’s.
I’d best get on with it.
