Tuesday 1 April 2025: Hello April!

As I was, as ever, busy on the last day of the month, I’ll do a proper full weekend catchup tomorrow.

I will say one thing, however…

It was quite the busy weekend in the end. Not only did we have a few things on, but my great novella challenge also took an unexpected turn and I ended up working on Catch the Rainbow instead of The Christmas Tree Mystery. I took a lot of stuff out (and saved it for a longer, fuller version later in the year), but I added a lot of stuff in too. And I was still working on it on Monday and tidying up loose ends.

The Christmas Tree Mystery will be my April novella and I’ll finish it around our road trip (see below). I mention this here for all those who saw my great novella challenge graphic and thought Uh?

Hello, April!

We’re off on a road trip during April. I’m not going to go into detail because, you know, insurance. But it means the to do list should be a bit shorter than usual. Saying that, some work will come with us, some work will still be squashed into the available time. We also have Easter in April.

Here, then, is the plan:

  • create graphic for Hello April
  • create graphic for April wrap-up
  • revise A Mystery at Whitehorse Farm
  • (week) daily blog post
  • finish client edit
  • pre-write Book 6 for the Great Novella Challenge
  • write Story 4 for 12 STORIES IN 12 MONTHS
  • Monkey Dust admin
  • share Diane’s gig list every Thursday
  • weekly diary work
  • Monkey Dust gig
  • proofread A Mystery at Whitehorse Farm
  • write Book 6 for the Great Novella Challenge
  • proofread short story: The Ace of Swords
  • Words Worth Reading Issue 3
  • write & schedule 5 book reviews
  • quarterly newsletter
  • road-trip (Scotland’s NC500)
  • enjoy Easter
  • WMG Publishing Study Along Gothic Writing Workshop: Assignment 1
  • monthly schedule planning for May
  • advance finances for May
  • update 12-project spreadsheet (week) daily

How’s your April looking?

  1. April is kind of all over the place. I have to finish the ghostwriting project. I hope to start the audio book adaptation project. I have to finish judging books for a contest. I continue the book reviewing gig and hope there’s some more script coverage work coming in.

I need to finish and revise VICIOUS CRITIC, and get back on track with the ANGEL HUNT adaptation. I need to build the two big central pieces of the textile project. I’m going to host the cohort near the end of the month, and have city council meetings, and a literary committee meeting at the theatre. It’s the last four weeks of the library cohort, too.

Kind of busy, but the right kind of busy!

    Have a great trip!
